What is Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)?

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is an entry level funding assistance program designed to help older Australians who require small amounts of support at home. It assists people who generally live and cope on their own while requiring some assistance.

What CHSP services can I receive?

The CHSP services you may access include, but are not limited to:

Basic personal care services (e.g. toileting, showering)
Basic help at home (e.g. simple chores, gardening, cleaning, meal delivery)
Basic social support (e.g. social outings, home visits, transport)
Basic level nursing care (e.g. wound and medication management) and allied health services
Activities at our Activity and Wellness Centres
Wellness for Independence programs (e.g. learn how to manage conditions associated with diabetes, learning how to manage symptoms of dementia)

Am I eligible?

To determine your CHSP funding eligibility for the Commonwealth Home Support Program, you will need to be assessed by the Regional Assessment Services Team (RAS) or the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). You can ring us at 1300 782 896 and our friendly staff will be happy to guide you through the process.

If you think you need a higher level of support at home, you may require a Home Care Package.

Please note, Department of Veteran’s Affairs funding is available for nursing care only.

How much will it cost me?

You may be required to contribute to the cost of your care and this depends on your income and the types or number of services you need. We will advise you of the contributions you might need to pay prior to the start of any service and work closely with you to maximise the care that you will receive.
