Award Recognition of innovative Indigenous Meal Range
With a focus on influencing the negative health statistics of Indigenous Peoples, the clinical services team at integratedliving were recognised for their contribution towards better health outcomes at the 10th HESTA Australian Nursing Awards held in Melbourne on International Nurses Day (12th May 2016).
As the winners of the ‘Team Excellence Award’, the integratedliving team were acknowledged for their practical approach of providing culturally appropriate dishes, using native ‘wild food’ ingredients that promote improved diet and health outcomes. Harnessing the collaboration with Indigenous One Hatted Chef Clayton Donovan, the team have expanded the initial idea into a community focused initiative connecting Elders, schools and communities to bring about long term change.
These Awards for Excellence recognise excellence across all fields of the aged care industry, celebrating significant contributions to the quality of life of older people, and community involvement in aged and community care services.
As an organisation focused clearly on clinical care and consumer outcomes, it was noted that integratedliving’s innovative approach to its work in regional, rural and remote areas is delivering where it needs to – in the homes of older people in a manner that is appropriate for everyone.
“With fifteen years of experience and a focus on the future, we are thrilled to win this award. It shows that we are recognised in the local community and acknowledges the hard work of our dedicated staff”, stated CEO Catherine Daley. “We thank the HESTA Nursing Awards team for promoting the work of our staff, which often goes unacknowledged, and contributes to ensuring older people’s health and wellbeing is supported within their communities, often avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions and preventing premature deaths. The $10,000 Prize from ME Bank will be used to further the programme and we thank them for their support.”
