Free Mental Health Carer Conferences
integratedliving in partnership with Carer Assist and Hunter Partners In Recovery are extending an invitation to those who care for someone living with a mental illness and their families to attend a free Mental Health Carer Conference.
The day is targeted at providing families and carers an opportunity to come together and enjoy interaction with others who can relate to the challenges they face everyday, while learning how to cope with these challenges and source local support networks.
Each of the two events is ideally suited to those located in the immediate and surrounding Local Government areas to the conference location. Lunch, morning tea and refreshments are provided and registrations on the day commence at 9am.
MAITLAND: Tuesday 19 April, 2016 from 9am for 9.30am start to 2.30pm
MUSWELLBROOK: Wednesday 27 April, 2016 from 9am for 9.30am start to 2.30pm
The theme of the day is “Asking, Listening, Supported” with guest speaker Hugh Worrell – support group facilitator for the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW and the focus is on the benefits of peer support groups for mental health carers and the importance of knowing that you are not alone.
The workshops and discussions will be carer focussed and provide a forum for people to be heard, to learn from each other and develop vital connections with other carers in the local community.
Representatives from the organisations involved will also be available to provide information and guidance in relation to supports within the local community.
We hope as many people as possible come along to each of these worthwhile events, to relax and lighten their load, and leave feeling empowered and supported.
Bookings are essential. Please RSVP to Carer Assist on 4968 9268 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Venue details will be provided upon booking.
