Inside Our Activity Centres: Winter Fun, NAIDOC Celebrations and State of Origin Cheer

Written by Adrienne Garnam, Activity Centre Operations Manager with integratedliving

As we settle into the cooler months, our Activity Centres have stayed full of warmth, laughter and good company. June has been a busy and joyful time, with plenty of activities, delicious food and meaningful celebrations that brought everyone together.

NAIDOC Week: Honouring Indigenous Culture

_______________________________

Across our Centres, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week, a time to recognise and honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We held special events and activities to help us all learn more about Indigenous culture. It was a meaningful way to show respect and appreciation for the Traditional Custodians of the land we live and work on.

Our Activity Centres were adorned with indigenous-styled artwork and decorations. The clients engaged in culturally themed activities and learnt about the local indigenous cultures. Our staff also wore new NAIDOC shirts, purchased from Yarn.

Delicious Meals and Warm Moments

_______________________________

Our Centres continue to serve fresh, home-style meals each day. Clients enjoy either breakfast or morning tea, followed by a hot lunch and a sweet treat for dessert.

From BBQs to homemade cupcakes, there’s always something tasty to enjoy.

We’re incredibly grateful to our volunteers who help prepare and serve meals, bringing care and kindness into every dish.

Footy Fun: State of Origin Spirit

_______________________________

There was plenty of friendly rivalry and cheer as we celebrated the State of Origin Game. Clients and staff wore team colours, enjoyed themed decorations and got into the spirit with football-inspired games and activities.

At Raymond Terrace, our 'Challenge Day' was a real highlight. Clients took part in creative games using pool noodles, ping pong balls and balloons - and there was no shortage of laughter or fun.

Supporting One Another as a Team

While some of our team members enjoyed a well-earned break, our wonderful Coordinators and Activity Officers stepped in to ensure things ran smoothly. We’re also pleased to officially welcome Rachelle Thomas as our new Team Leader. After returning from a cruise around the Mediterranean, Rachelle is now back with fresh ideas and great enthusiasm for her new role.

Looking Ahead

We’re so proud of the spirit and togetherness shown across our Centres this winter. Whether it's a celebration, a shared meal or a simple chat over tea, every moment spent together helps build the warm, supportive community we’re known for.

We look forward to more joy, connection and meaningful moments in the month ahead.
