Miles of smiles: Family reunited at our Centres

Family ties and special bonds discovered at our Activity Centre.

When Winston and Wayne turned up separately at one of our Activity Centres in New South Wales, they didn’t expect to discover long lost family. But that’s what happened. The two second cousins recognised each other’s surnames and sure enough, they were from separate branches of the same family tree.

Our team had the privilege of facilitating this heartwarming reunion between the family members who had never met before. Through a chance encounter at one of our Centres, Winston and Wayne discovered they were family – proof that our spaces don’t just support wellbeing, they also bring people together in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.

Wayne and Winston's very large family didn’t get together much. “We couldn’t ride horses to each other because of the cliffs in between,” Wayne said, explaining they lived on opposite sides of a mountain range. “Take me back to the ‘50s,” he added. They both laughed as they do often when spending every Wednesday together at our Centre.

Now the two men are great mates, as well as being long lost cousins. It is a great privilege for our team to be a part of the delightful friendships – and in this case family ties – that have formed at our Centres.
