Our green thumb gardeners who inspire growth and connection
Clients enjoy community gardening at our Activity Centres.
Recently, at our Woy Woy Centre, our clients spent a delightful morning outdoors in the sunshine, propagating plants brought in by our Activity Officer Nicole. From clipping to filling pots, everyone participated in the fun.
Our resident botanist, Robert, enthusiastically shared stories about his career and his passion for preserving the environment for future generations.

Robert has received an Order of Australia Medal in recognition of his contributions to botany. He pursued a degree in environmental science and later specialised in pure botany. He operated his own Ecological Survey and Management business, alongside his wife, both passionate advocates for environmental protection.
As a founding member of the Crommelin Native Arboretum, a museum dedicated to living trees, Robert actively contributes to the community. He is also a member of the Rotary Probus Club and participates in a local Bush Care group monthly across various locations on the Central Coast.

Keith is an enthusiastic gardener and a passionate fisherman. Despite living with macular degeneration, which leaves him legally blind, he enjoys cooking barbecues at the Centre from time to time and lending a hand in the garden.
Keith contributes to the growth of carrots, potatoes, and celery, as well as planting new vegetables. He plays a vital role in maintaining the soil in the raised garden beds and possesses extensive gardening knowledge that he is happy to share.

Each of our Activity Centres offers clients the chance to pursue activities they enjoy. For those who aren't keen on gardening, they can still enjoy eating the vegetables harvested from Raymond Terrace and Gorokan Centres.
