Our Wellness Centres are abuzz with news. Here’s the latest.
Did you know we have eight Wellness Centres across regional Australia? Don’t worry, if you don’t live near one, we offer the exercise classes and programs online as well.
Toowoomba
Our Toowoomba Wellness Centre now has two passionate and highly experienced exercise physiologists in the team, Jodie and Kate. This has allowed the thriving Centre to introduce more specialised classes and welcome more clients.
They even introduced five new classes in May alone. These new specialist classes include balance and functional circuit, as well as classes specific to catering for clients with Parkinson’s and diabetes.
The team are very excited to now offer external group classes and home visits. Additionally, they are looking to expand their services by running group classes at local retirement villages. If you’re in the Toowoomba area, be sure to find out more about all these exciting new developments.
Cairns
Last year, integratedliving was successful in receiving a Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) grant, administered by the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney General.
This very welcome grant has been used to supplement the gym equipment in our Cairns Wellness Centre.
This in turn is enabling more older people in the Cairns community access the many individual and group exercise classes on offer.
Cairns Wellness Centre Coordinator, Simone, is thrilled about the difference this will make. “The grant funds have been used to purchase a full set of the specialised HUR equipment our clients use to improve their mobility, strength and balance,” Simone said.
“We’ve also been able to refurbish an unused area of the Centre to provide additional services, along with recruiting more exercise physiologists to our team. When complete this will increase the capacity of the Centre and we’ll be able to double the number of available sessions on offer to clients,” Simone said.
Muswellbrook, Gorokan and Raymond Terrace
There is capacity for more clients to join these wonderful smaller NSW Wellness Centres.
We asked their friendly coordinators what clients enjoy most about these Centres, and why people would want to join their communities. This is what they had to say:
“Our clients love feeling like they’re heard, and part of a community where positive behaviours are promoted and encouraged. They value group classes for the accountability and motivation they gain by showing up for themselves and for each other.
"The small community vibe can be less intimidating for those finding it difficult to take that first step towards group exercise.
"Also feeling like it’s a safe space for individuals to share and discuss health-related stories and experiences with each other in a smaller tight-knit community. Our clients love the friendly and welcoming environment. We can provide excellent attention to each client, creating rapport and an understanding of each person’s condition.
“The Wellness programs involve assessments and this way clients not only feel the benefits of exercising, but they can also see the improvements they’ve made between past assessments and the current one.”
“Many of our clients have not only experienced physical benefits, but also social ones. They make new friends and seeing different people in similar situations encourages them to keep coming.”
