Creative dress‑ups and themed days across our Centres
Easter Show magic, dress‑ups and activities to engage everyone
Welcome to the Royal Easter Show
A carnival brought to our Centres
Our clients at Gosford and Woy Woy Activity Centres were recently treated to a magical recreation of the Royal Easter Show, bringing all the magic of the carnival right to our doorstep. Team members Nicole and Paige went above and beyond to capture the festive atmosphere, with wonderful assistance from Lisa and Jane, ensuring our clients could enjoy the experience without having to leave the comfort of our Centres.
Sensory fun and nostalgic flavours
It was a true sensory delight as everyone joined in with balloon animals and classic carnival games while indulging in iconic fair food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, hot chips and even a dedicated ice-cream trolley. The joy was evident in the smiles on every face, with some clients even suggesting it was better than the real show! It was a beautifully sentimental opportunity for everyone to reminisce and share in a day filled with laughter and nostalgic charm.
A tradition with deep roots
The show was first held in 1823, making it one of the oldest traditions in Australia. It wasn't always 'Royal' though. Queen Victoria granted the 'Royal' prefix to the Agricultural Society of New South Wales in 1891. Since it began in the 1800s, the show has only been cancelled three times: for the Spanish Flu in 1919, during World War II (1942–1946) and for the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Dressed for success
Team spirit on full display
Bringing vibrant activities to life for our clients requires a special kind of dedication, and our Activity Centres team goes above and beyond every single day to ensure a joyful environment at Gosford, Gorokan, Woy Woy and Raymond Terrace.
During our recent 'Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day,' the team was more than happy to trade their usual attire for cosy sleepwear. Activity Officer Kath at Gorokan might have taken the theme a bit too far when she was caught napping in her chair. The enthusiasm continued at Woy Woy and Gosford, where our wonderful team fully embraced the carnival spirit by dressing up for the Royal Easter Show, with Nicole even sported a beautiful polka-dot tie for the occasion.
Costumes, creativity and plenty of laughs
Over at Raymond Terrace, any excuse is a good one to dress up. Renee is particularly well known for her preference for farm-animal costumes, always finding a reason to bring a smile to everyone's faces regardless of the season.
The team's creativity truly knows no bounds, as seen during our psychedelic 60s party led by Mary-Ann. Not only did our team don their best retro gear but even our resident mannequin at Gorokan joined in on the fun. Whether it is celebrating birthdays, blasting off for Space Day, or channeling our inner strength for Superhero Day, the team's energy is infectious and ever-present.
Even educational sessions like the 'Who Dunnit' falls prevention activity were full of life and fun. Kath and Tracey donned full police uniforms to set the scene and ensure everyone was engaged with the important information. We also encourage our amazing clients to join in the dressing-up fun with regular theme days and special events.
Activities that bring us together
Across our Activity Centres this month, there have been so many wonderful ways to encourage group participation and engagement for all our clients. From the 'Who Dunnit' sessions to the lively board and floor games, every activity has been designed to foster connection and keep everyone involved.
Whether at Gosford, Gorokan, Woy Woy or Raymond Terrace, these shared experiences bring a vibrant energy into our Centres and highlight the importance of staying active and social together.
The activities at our Centres range from cognitive to physical challenges, where we focus on exercising not only the body but the mind as well. We make sure they offer a truly fun way to reminisce, share laughter and get everyone moving, so that everyone has a wonderful time while staying healthy and connected.
