Improving mobility and wellness with Stretch and Flow

Written by Freya Griffin, Communications Partner with integratedliving

Looking for an activity that can bring you a sense of peace while improving your mobility at the same time? Stretch and Flow classes might be the answer.

“I come along to Stretch and Flow for a few reasons,” said Joy, from New South Wales.

“Firstly, it makes me feel good moving my body in this way as it’s all very gentle and slow. It’s a physical form of meditation which gives me a sense of calm in my soul.

“Secondly, the movements limber up my joints and keep me flexible for my day-to-day activities,” Joy said.

“Thirdly, it’s a social outlet being a group class. We all enjoy a chat and laugh before and after class.”

The classes are split into two styles, with an advanced version of Stretch and Flow on offer called Core Confidence, incorporating stability, strength and conditioning movements.

Ballina Wellness Centre’s Personal Trainer Lillian said she enjoys tailoring the classes to include a mix of mobility, conditioning, balance and stretching exercises with a breath work focus.

“Stretch and Flow is a seated class with elements of Tai Chi and yoga, whereas the Core Confidence advanced version includes some standing stances, and we introduce resistance bands for additional strength and conditioning benefits,” Lillian said.
