Personal care services to become fully funded from October 2026

What this funding change means for personal care support

We have some positive news for older Australians exploring their Support at Home service options.

The Australian Government has announced that from 1 October 2026, eligible Support at Home participants will no longer need to pay contributions towards personal care services included in their support plan, where they have available Support at Home funding.

Personal care services can include support with showering, dressing and non-clinical continence management. Some Support at Home participants currently pay a contribution towards these services, depending on their individual circumstances.

This change recognises personal care as an essential service and reflects the important role it plays in supporting people to maintain their health, dignity, wellbeing and independence at home. By removing out-of-pocket costs for eligible participants, the government aims to make these services more accessible to older Australians who need them.

It’s important to note that these changes will apply from 1 October 2026 and will not apply to services delivered before this date.

At integratedliving, our experienced Care Managers work closely with clients to help them understand their funding, tailor services to their individual needs and make confident decisions about their care and support at home. We’re here to help you make the most of your Support at Home funding and ensure you receive the right combination of services to support your independence and wellbeing.
