Our team connects with the community at Central Coast Dementia Expo
Supporting carers, families and people living with dementia
The integratedliving team recently attended the 2026 Dementia Action Week Community Event and Expo on the Central Coast, joining community members, carers, health professionals and people living with dementia for a day of connection, education and support.
Representing integratedliving was Activity Officer Team Leader Rachelle and Activity Officer Tracey, who spent the day sharing information about our Activity Centres, Support at Home services and the range of support available to older Australians and their families.
Connecting with families and carers
Throughout the day, more than 80 people visited the integratedliving exhibition space, creating countless opportunities for meaningful conversations.
Attendees included people newly diagnosed with dementia, individuals living with dementia, carers seeking support and healthcare professionals looking to learn more about local services.
These discussions allowed the team to provide information, answer questions and help people better understand the support available within their community.
Strengthening community partnerships
Events like the Dementia Action Week Expo play an important role in bringing organisations together to support people living with dementia and their families.
The day provided an opportunity to connect with healthcare professionals, community organisations and local service providers, strengthening relationships that help improve awareness of available support services across the region.
The team also invited attendees to visit integratedliving's Central Coast Activity Centres during the upcoming "Cuppa for Dementia" morning teas, encouraging further connection and community engagement.
A well-deserved recognition for Irene
One of the most memorable moments of the day came during a presentation by event MC Jason van Genderen.
While speaking about dementia and the importance of support networks, Jason shared a personal story about one of integratedliving's Support Workers, Irene, who happened to be attending the event on her day off.
He reflected on the care Irene provided to his mother during her dementia journey and highlighted the profound difference compassionate and reliable carers can make to both individuals and their families.
It was an unexpected and heartfelt acknowledgment that reflected the dedication, professionalism and kindness demonstrated by integratedliving team members every day.
Improving access to local support services
Another highlight of the event was the launch of a new support services app by the Central Coast Dementia Alliance, designed to help people more easily find dementia-related services and support in their local area.

A rewarding day for the team
The Dementia Action Week Community Event was a valuable opportunity to connect with the community, raise awareness of dementia support services and celebrate the importance of supporting people living with dementia and their carers.
Most importantly, it reinforced the impact that community connection, education and compassionate care can have on the lives of individuals and families navigating dementia. And to round out an already fantastic day, the team even had the chance to spend some time with a group of friendly baby goats at the venue, providing a fun and memorable finish to a meaningful community event.
