Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

Learn how CHSP funding can support your home care needs.

What is the Commonwealth Home Support Program ?

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is an entry level funding assistance program designed to help older Australians who require small amounts of support at home. It assists people who generally live and cope on their own while requiring some assistance.

Am I eligible for CHSP funding?

To determine your funding eligibility for CHSP, you or a representative on your behalf (i.e. family member or carer) can visit the My Aged Care website to apply for an assessment online. The government provides a single assessment pathway to access all Government-funded in-home, and flexible care.

You can call us at 1300 782 896 and our friendly staff will be happy to guide you through the process.

How much will CHSP services cost me?

Client contribution fees may vary depending on your personal circumstances and the types of services you receive. These fees are designed to reflect your individual capacity to contribute and may differ from person to person and across regions. Before any services begin, we’ll clearly explain any fees that may apply and work with you to ensure you receive the highest level of care and support available.

If you’re experiencing financial hardship, you may be able to reduce or waive your contribution. Learn more by viewing the policies below.

Already on the Commonwealth Home Support Program?

You may be required to contribute to the cost of your care and this depends on your income and the types or number of services you need. We will advise you of the contributions you might need to pay prior to the start of any service and work closely with you to maximise the care that you will receive.

Frequently asked questions

CHSP is designed for people who need entry-level help to stay independent at home. This might include a small amount of support with light cleaning, meals, transport or personal care. Whether CHSP is right for you will depend on your needs and your My Aged Care assessment.

Depending on your assessment and needs, CHSP can provide services such as light cleaning, personal care, meals, transport, social support, respite, allied health, nursing and home maintenance. The services you can access will depend on what you are approved for and what is available in your area.

CHSP is subsidised by the Australian Government. You may be asked to contribute towards the cost of your services if you can afford to. The amount will depend on the services you receive and your provider’s contribution policy. integratedliving will explain any costs before your services start. Complete this form or call us on 1300 782 896 if you would like to discuss costs.

CHSP continues to operate separately from Support at Home. In August 2026, the Australian Government confirmed that CHSP funding is extended to 30 June 2029, and that CHSP will remain a standalone program rather than being merged into Support at Home.

The Government will consult on CHSP's longer-term future over the next two years, including how the program is funded and delivered. If you receive CHSP services from integratedliving, there's nothing you need to do right now. We'll keep you informed as more detail becomes available.

The first step is to contact My Aged Care and arrange an assessment. They will talk with you about what you need help with and determine whether CHSP is suitable for you. If you are approved, you can choose a provider such as integratedliving to deliver your services. If you need help understanding the process, complete this form or call us on 1300 782 896.

In most cases, you can only receive one primary aged‑care funding program at a time. CHSP is designed for entry‑level support, while Support at Home provides more flexible and personalised services with a dedicated Care Partner. Which program applies to you depends on your assessment and your individual needs.

If your needs increase and CHSP is no longer enough, you may need another aged care assessment to see whether Support at Home is more suitable. If you’re starting to feel that you need more help, talk to us. We can help you understand your options and support you through the next steps. Complete the form or call us on 1300 782 896.
