Biggest Morning Tea magic across our Centres
Creativity, connection and heartfelt community spirit.
Across our Activity Centres, this year’s Biggest Morning Tea celebrations became a vibrant showcase of imagination, teamwork and heartfelt generosity. Each Centre brought its own unique theme to life, from fairytale forests to regency elegance, winter wonderland adventures and a sparkling winter escape.
Clients, carers, volunteers and team members worked side by side to create unforgettable experiences that honoured our volunteers and raised vital funds for the Cancer Council. It was a week that truly highlighted the warmth, creativity and community spirit that make our Centres so special.
Enchanted Fairytale Morning Tea
Gorokan stepped straight into a magical forest as the centre transformed into a whimsical fairy‑tale wonderland. Beautiful storybook‑style backdrops, lush floral settings and imaginative décor created an atmosphere that felt worlds away from the everyday. Around 25 guests from both the Activity Centre and Wellness Centre filled the room with laughter as they enjoyed a delicious spread and joined in on fun, light‑hearted games.
A special moment was dedicated to honouring the volunteers – the true fairy godmothers and godfathers of the Centre, who were celebrated for their kindness and dedication. The event also raised an impressive contribution for the Cancer Council. None of the magic would have been possible without the creativity and hard work of Mary‑Ann, Rebecca and Robyn, whose efforts ensured the day ended in a happily‑ever‑after for everyone.
Bridgerton 'High Tea on the Ton'
Gosford embraced full regency splendour, transforming the Centre into a scene worthy of the finest drawing rooms of Mayfair. Antique tea sets, elegant bunting, beautifully printed menus and Whistledown‑style gossip newsletters set the tone for a truly fashionable affair. Our incredible clients helped prepare for the event by potting plants, decoupaging tableware and crafting antique‑style paper flowers that added charm to every table.
The festivities began with Bridgerton‑inspired games, including 'Pass the Gift' and the teapots‑and‑spoons challenge, before guests settled in for a refined morning tea. A spirited trivia game introduced everyone to fun facts about the volunteers from dramatic suitcase mishaps to a deep love of chickens with Viscountess Audrey crowned the winner. Volunteers were honoured with gifts and heartfelt appreciation during National Volunteer Week.
Lucky door prizes, raffles and lively conversation filled the room, reminding everyone that the true jewel of the Ton is the companionship shared within the community. As Lady Whistledown would say, the tea was hot and the gossip even hotter.
Mad Hatter’s Wonderland Tea Party
Raymond Terrace went 'down the rabbit hole' with a vibrant and energetic Mad Hatter’s Tea Party that brought Alice in Wonderland to life. The Centre was decorated from ceiling to floor with colourful props, creating an atmosphere buzzing with excitement for the 35 clients and carers who attended. The theme, chosen by Julie, inspired our team and volunteers to fully embrace their characters: Kate as the Queen of Hearts, Craig as a Royal Flush, Julie as the Mad Hatter, Renee as the White Rabbit and Bec as Alice in Wonderland.
The event was the result of weeks of teamwork, with team members, volunteers and clients preparing decorations and props together. Renee and volunteer Karen made standout contributions – from decorating on days off to preparing food straight after night shift. Guests enjoyed a full program of entertainment, including croquet, lucky card hunts, guess‑the‑lollies and a hilarious 'Down the Rabbit Hole' story from Alice. Julie’s dramatic recital of The Jabberwocky in full Mad Hatter attire was a highlight.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with clients and families expressing heartfelt thanks. The day showcased the humour, generosity and deep sense of connection that make the Centre feel more like family than colleagues.
Woy Woy's Winter Wonderland
Woy Woy’s Winter Wonderland celebration began a week early, with clients writing heartfelt messages of appreciation for volunteers and helping create handmade decorations. In the lead‑up, a large blue‑and‑yellow teapot backdrop was painted - leaving an accidental imprint on the dining tables that was thankfully scrubbed away with the help of volunteer Juanita.
On the day, the centre transformed into a cosy winter escape filled with blue and yellow décor, dangling snowflakes and guests dressed in beanies, scarves and gloves. A Biggest Morning Tea display table at the entrance helped build excitement throughout the week. The festivities included tea‑themed games, aroma‑guessing challenges and the crowd‑favourite “Tea Grazer” competition, where teams raced to spell words using loose‑leaf tea.
A meaningful moment was taken to reflect on the importance of the Cancer Council’s work, followed by a heartfelt thank‑you to volunteers, who received gifts and read the touching messages written by clients. The day ended with warm gratitude from clients, carers and volunteers alike - a beautiful celebration of community, connection, and kindness.
