Your health, their expertise: Find out more about our in-home nursing care and exercise physiologist services

Written by Julianna Stewart, Communications Partner with integratedliving

Our in-home nursing care and exercise physiologists are fundamental to keeping our clients well and independent in their homes.

Our nursing team

Our dedicated nurses are highly skilled professionals who can provide you with excellent care in your home or via telehealth.

Registered Nurse Karen loves working in the community and draws upon years of experience from nursing in intensive care units in hospitals to provide her clients with holistic health care.

“When you’re visiting someone in their home, you’re able to build a relationship and monitor their overall wellbeing,” Karen said. “It’s lovely to get to know them as well as their carers and family.

“This allows nurses to notice any changes to our client’s weight, or fluctuations in their blood pressure, blood sugar levels, if they are walking differently, or have difficulties swallowing. These sorts of things are indicators and if they are addressed and managed quickly, can prevent more serious health issues arising,” Karen said.

“Nurses use a big-picture approach when working with a client. They can recommend services and ways to help you manage your health, and they’ll liaise with your General Practitioner to organise referrals.”

Exercise physiologists

Helping you achieve your optimal physical health is the goal of an exercise physiologist. Whether you have an existing medical condition or injury, or are at risk of developing one, our accredited exercise physiologists can work with you to get your health and mobility back on track.

Exercise Physiologist Tiarne said an example of a beneficial movement practice for seniors is the ‘sit-to-stand' exercise which can strengthen lower limbs and muscles, and improve muscular endurance.

“This helps your ability to complete everyday activities, such as sitting, standing, getting in and out of the car, off the toilet or climbing stairs without pain,” Tiarne said. “It can also improve balance and increase mobility, especially through the ankles, knees and hips.”

integratedliving's exercise physiologists can work with you to develop a program to suit your ability and health goals, monitoring your progress along the way. The program includes health and physical activity education, advice, support and lifestyle modification, with a strong focus on achieving behavioural change.

Exercise physiology is available at our Wellness Centres, online through our virtual services, or through in-home visits.

Sessions assist you with:

  • Increasing physical function, mobility and ability to stay at home for longer
  • Improving your mental health and wellbeing
  • Improving your independence and ability to complete daily tasks
  • Reducing pain, increasing muscle strength and improving balance.
