Prof. Susan Brandis

Susan is Professor of Occupational Therapy at Bond University, in the faculty of Health Science and Medicine. Previously, she held senior roles including Director of Research, Director of Clinical Governance, and Executive Director of Allied Health at Gold Coast Health, and Executive Director of the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme in Queensland. She has expertise in allied health leadership, geriatric and rehabilitation services, acute care, healthy ageing, and palliative care. Susan’s research focuses on falls prevention, organisational culture, care models, patient safety, and quality improvement.
She is a Fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Executives (ACHS) since 1996,and led the National Falls Prevention project for the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. Susan is on several international working groups for the World Federation of Occupational Therapists including the development of primary care models and quality and safety indicators for global benchmarking. She has recently been appointed to the World Health Organisation (WHO) technical working group developing quality standards and recommended rehabilitation equipment to inform the WHO Rehabilitation 2030 strategy.
Susan collects bromeliads, bakes and is a crochet queen.
