Prof. Susan Brandis

Board Director

Susan is Professor and Head of Occupational Therapy at Bond University on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Before this, she worked in senior leadership roles such as the Director of Research, the Director of Clinical Governance, and the Executive Director Allied Health for Gold Coast Health. Susan has led allied health, geriatric and rehabilitation services; and was the Executive Director Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme in Queensland. Susan’s clinical interest areas are acute care, rehabilitation, healthy ageing and palliative care. Her research activity explores the prevention of falls and fractures, organisational culture, models of care, patient safety, and quality improvement.

Since 1996, Susan has been a Fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Executives (ACHS), and a previous surveyor for ACHS/ EQuIP national accreditation for quality improvement. Her publications include the National best practice guidelines for the prevention of falls, Allied health models of care, and Patient safety and quality from when she led the National Falls Prevention project in 2016 for the Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care.

She graduated as an Occupational Therapist from the University of Queensland in 1979, Bachelor of Business and Health management (QUT) in 1993, and Ph.D. (2017) exploring “Organisational Safety Culture and Patient Outcomes” (Griffith Business School). Susan is the Chair of the governing board of St Hilda’s Anglican School and a Director of the St Hilda’s’ Foundation, bringing 20 years of board experience in not-for-profit and community focused organisations to us here at integratedliving Australia.
