At our Activity Centres, every moment is alive with creativity and enthusiasm.
In this next chapter of our journey, we celebrate the vibrant experiences that our clients have enjoyed. Each moment reflects the unique spirit of our community, whether it's playing bocce while savouring delicious Italian cuisine, planting sunflowers that symbolise hope, or embracing artistry through collaborative painting.
Our centres are filled with laughter and connection as clients share stories and make memories together. As the Activity Centre Team Leader, I’m happy to share these moments that show the joy and creativity in our community. I hope they brighten your day like they do mine.
A Taste of Italy
Our wonderful clients at Gorokan Activity Centre were whisked away on a delightful journey to Italy, all from the comfort of their armchairs, thanks to the creative touch of our Activity Officer, Mary-Ann. They fully immersed themselves in the Italian spirit, kicking things off with fun games like backyard bocce that brought out some friendly competition and laughter.
No Italian experience would be complete without indulging in a mouth-watering feast, and our clients savoured a delicious spread of lasagna, garlic bread, and tiramisu, evoking the rich flavours of Italy. The adventure continued with a virtual stop at the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, where each traveler got to snap a fun keepsake photo as a memento of their day. This armchair adventure was truly a celebration of connection, culture, and joy, all while exploring Italy from home. Buon viaggio to many more experiences like this.

Growing together at Woy Woy
Clients then dug, planted, and watered their seeds, sharing laughter and stories as they worked together. Each client played a vital role in this collective effort, contributing to a future filled with blooming sunflowers that will soon grace our centre. As these sunflowers grow, they will serve as a living reminder of the positive impact of collaboration and the joy of nurturing something together.
We look forward to witnessing these seeds flourish, brightening our centre with their golden blooms and the spirit of community in the months to come.

Collaborative art and crafty fun
As a second wave of creativity, clients hand-painted beautiful glass tea candle holders, later brought to life with soft, glowing battery lights. The activity was both peaceful and fulfilling, offering everyone a chance to let their artistic side shine. To top it off, we dived into making marbled bookmarks using shaving cream and food colouring, adding splashes of color to each page-turn. Thanks to our inventive Activity Officer Nicole, it was a day full of bold ideas and hands-on joy.

With the gorgeous Spring weather in full swing, our Raymond Terrace Activity Centre seized the opportunity to enjoy a delightful barbecue lunch in the sensory garden. Not only was it a feast for the senses, but it also provided a healthy dose of Vitamin D, essential for the well-being of older adults.
The group also embarked on a scenic drive into Newcastle, a beloved destination many clients hadn’t visited in years. The outing sparked lively conversations and nostalgic memories, with clients reminiscing about past adventures in the city. Laughter filled the bus as they shared stories, and some playful shenanigans added to the fun atmosphere. It was a wonderful day filled with connection, joy, and the vibrant spirit of Spring, creating cherished moments that will last long after the season ends.
