A proactive, pain management program aimed at helping older people understand pain, the factors that can affect our experience of pain, and strategies for reducing or managing both acute and chronic pain.
Chronic pain affects one in three adults over 65 years of age, accounting for over 3 million Australians. Chronic pain can cause significant disruption to a person’s quality of life, affecting them physically, emotionally, socially and economically.
integratedliving's Pain Management Wellness program will provide people with an understanding of the risk factors that increase the chance of developing pain, pain management strategies, and the role of exercise, medication, nutrition, mind health and evidence-based complementary therapies in the management of pain.
Reduce pain and improve quality of life.
Reduce and manage risk factors that lead to pain.
Maintain independence through better pain management.
16 weeks of interactive learning within a small and supportive group, led by a registered nurse or allied health professional. This includes a pre and post health assessment.
An iPad on loan for the duration of the program if required.
An iHealth device to assist with activity and monitoring sleep patterns, which is yours to keep.
A program manual which includes important resources relating to the program. This is yours to keep.
Assistance in the initial set-up of your internet and devices.
In-depth weekly sessions on crucial topics such as the body’s pain system, chronic pain management strategies, the role of medications, how to manage pain flare ups, the benefits of active strategies to reduce pain, exercise for pain management and how to improve quality of life for people living with pain and those that care for them.
Expert and friendly clinical staff to guide you throughout the program, including ongoing technical support and assistance.
Reflection exercises to keep you engaged and learning throughout the program.
A wonderfully supportive atmosphere with social interaction and important learning for 16 weeks.

Eligibility criteria*
You need to be aged over 65 or over 50 for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders.
Some services may be available to people aged under 65.
